Speak out for New York Times puzzle
Dear Editor,
Wordsmiths unite! We have only until Friday to voice our opinions. Heather – please save the Sunday New York Times Crossword (and my vote is to also return the daily NYT puzzle)!
There is a terrible misinformation campaign being waged upon us. John Korrie (my tremendous friend and plumber extraordinaire) purports to be a “mountain folk” and wants to bring back the remedial puzzle. John, you are from New York (albeit upstate). Challenge your mind! Instead of the three-letter answers such as umm, huh and duh, try thinking out of the box and stringing two or more words together to form coherent phrases, concepts, titles, tongue twisters or just plain nonsense. Experience the thrill of discovering the theme that is always inherent to the Sunday NYT puzzle.
I am just a native hick from the “Queen City of the Plains” (I’ve always hated that moniker), so sometimes I struggle, dictionary in hand, all week to finish the puzzle. And sometimes, John, just do like I do and cheat!
Sincerely,
Larry Hon
