Selfies: Spend the dog days of summer with Colorado Animal Rescue

The Post Independent most Wednesdays publishes a photo story featuring a single topic. Taken from the last name of the PI staff photographer/videographer Chelsea Self, these weekly stories will be called Selfies. The feature will include a page of photos in the paper and, online, a digital slide show and video with each story at postindependent.com. If you have an idea for a topic, email Chelsea at cself@postindependent.com.

Anyone interesting in volunteering at Colorado Animal Rescue can contact the volunteer manager Keira Clark at volunteerforcare@gmail.com or call 970-947-9173. CARE is always in need of people who would like to volunteer and work directly with the animals by cleaning cat cages and dog kennels, taking part in the CARE Canine Training Program, or participating in special events and fundraisers throughout the year.

There is a simple volunteer application to be filed out as well as a 45-minute orientation and training at the CARE facility located across from the Colorado Mountain College Spring Valley Campus. The orientations are generally scheduled on a bimonthly basis.
