The Owl Creek Chase, a 21k cross country ski race from Snowmass to Aspen, takes place at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10.Elite athletes from around the country, as well as local racers, are invited to participate in one of Colorado’s premier Nordic skiing events, featuring tough climbs, scenic views, thrilling descents and excellent snow conditions.For complete event details please visit for more details on the Owl Creek Chase.

The Mother of All Ascensions uphill climb at Snowmass takes places at 7 a.m. sharp on Tuesday, Feb. 12 (Fat Tuesday) at the base of Fanny Hill.Pre-registration is available at the Base Camp Bar & Grill in Snowmass Village, he Ute Mountaineer in Aspen, Bristlecone Mountain Sports in Basalt, Independence Run and Hike in Carbondale and Summit Canyon Mountaineering in Glenwood Springs. Race day registration starts at 5:45 a.m. at Base Camp. Mardi Gras attire is encouraged, and there will be awards.

The New Castle Recreation Department hosts the Winter Blast Quads Volleyball Tournament beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9.Teams can be any combination of male and/or female players and the format will be pool play with teams placed in playoff divisions based on their pool play results.
