The Glenwood Springers youth track and field club is hosting its annual community meet on July 9. All ages are welcome to compete in the following events: 50-meter run, 100, 200, 400, 800, 5,000, 100 hurdles, 4×100 relay, sprint relay (100-100-200-400), distance medley (400-800-1,200-1,600), long jump, shot put.The action begins at 5 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs High School track. The cost to sign up is $5 for youths, $10 for adults and $50 for corporate relays. Proceeds benefit the Glenwood Springers.Call Mike Kishimoto at 379-3365 or e-mail for more information.

Defiance Volleyball Club will be having a youth skills camp July 20-22 from 9-11 a.m. at Glenwood Springs Middle School. All kids, preschool through eighth grade, are welcome. The annual Glenwood Open golf tournament will hit the links at Glenwood Springs Golf Club July 11-12.Call the course at 945-7086 to sign up.

Glenwood Soccer is hosting two summer camps for players 4-13 years old. The camps will be held at the Glenwood Park soccer field from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 13-17 and Aug. 10-14. The cost is $110 per session and registration is available online at or by calling the club office at 945-6091.

The Carbondale Wild West Rodeo recently announced its summer schedule. The rodeo is back in Carbondale for its seventh season for a 12-week series that runs until Aug. 20. Gates open every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. each week, with slack at 6:30 p.m. and grand entry at 7:30 p.m. sharp. The Gus Darien Riding Arena hosts the weekly rodeo and is located on County Road 100.Admission is $8 per person or $25 per car load. A car load is six people or less. For each additional person over six in a carload, admission is $5 per person. Children under 10 years old are free.
