The Rifle High School boys basketball program is hosting a camp for sixth- through eighth-graders this week. The three-day camp starts at 4 p.m. each day, beginning this Tuesday and finishing up on Thursday. Players can sign up on the first day of camp.

Rifle High School has an opening for an assistant volleyball coach and an assistant cheerleading/pom coach.

Glenwood Springs Soccer Club is holding tryouts for its fall league this week. Tryouts are for kids entering fifth through 12th grades.

Players are required to have $100 deposit, and anyone new to the club should bring a copy of a birth certificate and an application.

The schedule is as follows:

• Boys: Tuesday, June 1, 5-7 p.m., at Gates Soccer Complex.

• Girls: Wednesday, June 2, 5-7 p.m., at Gates.

• Makeups/callbacks: Friday, June 4, 5-6 p.m., at the Glenwood Park soccer field.

The New Castle Recreation Department is looking for umpires for youth baseball and girls fastpitch softball. Contact NCR for more information at 984-3352.

It’s time to sign up for the Emily Johnson Play it Forward 3v3 Soccer tournament. Round up six players for the June 5-6 tournament at Gates Soccer Park (located at CMC’s Spring Valley Campus).

Girls and boys teams in the U8 to U18 age divisions, as well as co-ed adult teams, are welcome to sign up. There are both recreational and competitive brackets.

Proceeds benefit two scholarships for Coal Ridge seniors, as well as a new scholarship for a soccer player from the other high schools in our valley (from Parachute to Aspen) who shares the same passion that Emily had in the sport that she loved.

The beach volleyball league at Chomp’s Deli is now taking registration for four-person teams. The cost is $25 per team and the fee includes all equipment and refreshments. Matches take place on Saturday and Tuesday nights.
