The fourth annual 5K Walk/Run For Their Lives benefit race returns to Silt on June 4. The race, which begins at 8:30 a.m., is a fundraiser the for Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation.
The foundation rehabilitates and releases injured or orphaned wildlife, with more than 5,000 animals cared for since 1984.
The event course runs through Silt, starting and finishing at the Stoney Ridge ball field. From the Silt roundabout, turn off on Main Street and head west. Make a right on Seventh Street and travel four blocks to the field, which is on the right.
Pre-register for $20 by calling Sandy at 987-3593. Race-day registration is $25.
Need extra money? Volleyball officials are needed to work local middle school and high school matches in the fall. Training will be provided.

Batter up! Carbondale Recreation is accepting registrations for adult softball for both its co-ed and men’s leagues.
The registration deadline is Friday, May 13. All fees are due at the time of sign-up, which is handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
No spots will be held without full payment and no partial payments will be accepted. The cost for the Monday night co-ed league is $540 and the Tuesday night men’s league is $650.
Games begin in June.
