Glenwood Springs Youth Hockey is holding its annual Mite Jamboree at the Glenwood Springs Community Center ice rink on Saturday. The day will also feature a USA Hockey American Development Model coaching clinic.

The day’s schedule of events:

• 9:45-10:45 a.m. – U8 ADM practice

• 10:45-11:45 a.m. – U10 ADM practice

• Noon-1 p.m. – Parent and coaches classroom clinic

• 1:45-4:30 p.m. – GSYHA Mite Jamboree

Do you have dreams of playing sports in college? Glenwood Springs High School is hosting an informational meeting with tips for college athletic recruitment on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Athletes of any sport from schools throughout the valley are welcome to attend the 7 p.m. session.

The Elks Hoop Shoot is slated for Saturday, Jan. 7, at Glenwood Springs Middle School. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the shooting gets under way at 10 a.m.

The free throw contest is open to boys and girls in the following age groups: 8-9, 10-11, 12-13.

Bring a copy of your birth certificate. Winners will advance to the district competition in Rifle on Jan. 22.

The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa, a Grand Junction course, is hosting the IronMan Classic on Sunday.

The two-man, best-ball tourney tees off at 10 a.m. The entry fee is $65, which includes green fees, prize money and a chili bar after play.

The tournament is open to professionals and amateurs with a USGA handicap.
