New Castle Recreation is accepting registrations from both teams and individuals interested in participating in its spring adult co-ed soccer league.

Play is 8v8 and games are held Sunday afternoons at Grand River Park. League rules require a minimum of three females on the field during play.

Games begin in mid-April and the deadline to register is today. Registration fees are $350 per team. Call 984-3352 for more information.



The 13th annual Grand River Gallop will be held this Saturday. The race starts at the south side of Grand River Hospital and Medical Center, located at 501 Airport Road in Rifle. Registration for this charity 5K run and 2K family fun walk begins at 8 a.m., and the race begins promptly at 9 a.m.

Entry fees are $20 in advance and $25 on race day for individuals and $35 in advance and $40 on race day for families. Cash and checks are accepted. Checks can be made out to Grand River Hospital District.



The Grand River Gallop will benefit Grand River Meals on Wheels of Western Garfield County. The race will also benefit scholarships for children to attend the diabetes health camp to be held this summer in Rifle.

The Grand River Gallop is part of the Colorado River Valley Charity Race Series. Entry forms are available at http://www.grhd.org, at Grand River Hospital and Medical Center, or by calling Kaaren Peck at 625-6423.

The Glenwood Springs Men’s Senior Golf Group began play Monday at Glenwood Springs Golf Club.

The group is for men 50 and older. Tee times are at 10 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. If interested, come up to the course and join the group any Monday or Wednesday. Arrive by 9:45 a.m. so teams can be selected for the day’s play.
