Glenwood Springs High School is hosting spring football practice on Friday, June 1, from 4-6 p.m.

Roaring Fork, Basalt and Aspen will attend, and a four-way game scrimmage is planned at roughly 5 p.m.

It’s time to gather your team of six players for the fourth annual Emily Johnson Play it Forward 3v3 Soccer Tournament. This year’s event takes place the weekend of June 8-10 at Gates Soccer Park, which is located on Colorado Mountain College’s Spring Valley campus in Glenwood Springs.

The annual tournament honors the passion of Emily Johnson, a Coal Ridge High School soccer player and captain who was tragically killed in an ATV accident in November 2008. All proceeds support three scholarships given to local high school seniors in Johnson’s name.

Kicking off the weekend on Friday, June 8, will be the Emily Johnson Play it Forward All-Star Exhibition Game featuring 4A and 3A All-Western Slope League high school players. The boys will play at 5 p.m., with the girls following at 7 p.m.

The 3v3 tournament begins Saturday morning at 8 a.m. and continues through Sunday for U8 to U18 boys and girls teams as well as co-ed adult teams in both recreational and competitive divisions.

Register your teams today at http://www.EmilyJohnsonPlayitForward.org. The cost is $150 per team ($25 per player), which guarantees at least three games as well as a goodie bag and tournament T-shirt. Refreshments will be available. There will be a silent auction Saturday morning.

For information, email playitforward@ sopris.net.

The River Valley Ranch Ladies Golf Club is holding its opening day on Tuesday.

A short meeting, with coffee and rolls, will begin at 8:30 a.m. Play begins at 9 a.m. All abilities are welcome.

Call the clubhouse at 963-3625 to sign up. For more information, call Nancy at 945-7168 or Pat at 963-1775.
