Spotlight on the Troops

Sgt. Butch Godeski enlisted in the Army in March 1997. He is a paratrooper and served with the 108th MP Co. Airborne Air Assault at Ft. Bragg, N.C. He has served in Bosnia and Kosovo doing weapons search and seizure. While serving in Kosovo he participated in the first and only foreign jump that included 14 different nations, and received the German Foreign Jump Wings. He has received numerous good conduct and Army achievement medals. He was awarded an Army commendation medal for his outstanding service while in Kosovo as well as the NATO medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the National Defense Medal. Most recently he served with the 37th MP Detachment (CID) as an undercover drug investigation DST at Ft. Jackson, S.C. Sgt. Godeski has volunteered for deployment to Iraq and is awaiting orders.

He is a 1995 graduate of Glenwood Springs High School and the son of Dan and JoJo Godeski of Rifle. His wife is Kim, and he has a son, Devon.
