Spring a busy season for Glenwood Art Guild
This spring, artwork by Glenwood Springs Art Guild members is on display at the group’s annual “All Members Show.”
The exhibit, at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts, is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. on weekends. All works are for sale, and can be purchased through the Center for the Arts.
The guild also presents demonstrations and exhibits around Glenwood Springs during April and May:
– The art of pastel technique is no longer a mystery. Join the guild for a demonstration in pastel technique by Marsha Fusaro during the monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1630 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs. Meetings are open to the public.
– For the months of April, May and June, artwork is on display by the following artists from the Glenwood Springs Art Guild: Ann Lieber at Vita Mart; Cynthia Thomas at Flower Mart; William Rump at the Department of Motor Vehicles. Carol Murphy at Remax; and Arlene Law at Alpine Bank.
– This summer, the Glenwood Springs Art Guild hosts two art workshops this summer. First, from June 7-9, Doug Dawson teaches a plein air pastel workshop. Registration is $320 for the three-day event. Dawson is a celebrated artist and teacher, and founding member of the Art Student’s League of Denver. He has received numerous awards in his career.
During the mornings of the workshop, Dawson will demonstrate plein air landscape; the seven rules of creating depth; black-and-white thumbnail studies; color thumbnail studies; and color harmony. Afternoons will be spent painting, and students are encouraged to bring three to five paintings for a personal critique. For registration, call Ida Burnaman at 963-3264.
The second event is a watercolor workshop with Alice Carol June 8-9. Registration is $135 for the two-day event. Carol has studied the medium of watercolor both in the United States and Europe under famous watercolorist Charles Reed. She has shown in many national exhibits and has won numerous awards. The workshop is for anyone who would like to improve their painting in the medium of watercolor. The class will address painting portraits, human or animal, as well as painting still life.
