St. Mary Performance Series starts season with Schumann Singers

RIFLE – St. Mary Catholic Church opens its second season of the St. Mary Performance Series with an all-Mozart choral program.

The concert takes place at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, with the acclaimed Schumann Singers, a 32-voice choral group performing sacred Mozart selections, including excerpts from his famous opera, “The Magic Flute.”

Founded in 1983 by Merritt Schumann, the Schumann Singers present two annual concerts of classical music. The members of the group live from Silt to Fruita. A wide age range is also represented in the group, including teenage home- and public-schooled students, many working adults and retirees in their youthful 70s.

Pianist Judy Dvorak Ronzio accompanies the Schumann Singers during the performance. She is actively involved in the Grand Valley as a teacher, performer, and a much sought-after accompanist.St. Mary Catholic Church is located at Seventh and Birch streets in Rifle.
