St. Mary presents an evening of classical music

The St. Mary Performance Series offers an evening of classical music at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at St. Mary Church, Seventh and Birch streets in Rifle.Five piano competition winners from Colorado’s Front Range will perform the music of Mozart, Haydn, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Barber, Liszt, Ravel and Ligeti. The performers, who are high school students, include Tammy Lee, Shine-shine Lao, Jeffrey Lee, Collin Barnett-Hartt and Rebecca Wu.The young talents will be brought to Rifle by their coach Larry Graham, who teaches in Boulder. Graham is himself a competition winner of the Queen Elizabeth Concourse in Brussels. He also taught advanced levels of music at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and children under 12. Proceeds cover the cost of the concerts and a small honorarium for the performers.
