Steinbach fares well for Titans

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado – Melissa Steinbach finished tied for eighth place individually and Anna Ward netted a tie for 14th place overall to lead Coal Ridge High School’s girls golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Grand Junction Invitational on Monday at Bookcliff Country Club.

Steinbach carded a 95 to tie with Haleigh Lyon of Durango individually. The Titans netted a team score of 290, good for fourth place behind Montrose (258), Durango (278) and Grand Junction Central’s Red team (283). Glenwood Springs (338) finished 13th, and Grand Valley (389) finished 14th in the 14-team tournament.

Ward (96), Leah Kanakaraj (98), Allie Hay (132) and Jess Wagenman (134) finished out the scoring for the Titans.

For Glenwood, McClay Bruce had the Demons’ best score at 104. Kylie Flemming and Melissa Thrun (each at 117) followed ahead of Leah Scholl (120) and Audrey Jones (123).

Grand Valley’s Misty Bowen (121) had the best individual finish for the Cardinals. Vanessa Greene (130) and Jori Dovey (138) finished up the team scoring for the Cardinals.
