By Heidi RiceRifle CorrespondentStillwater Ranch developers are asking for yet another extension from the town of Silt, this time to move a Dec. 31 deadline to show proof of financing and a final plat for the subdivision.According to Silt town officials, Stillwater (SWD, LLC) has requested the extension from the town trustees. The request will be presented at the next regular board meeting, on Nov. 22. SWD has already been granted several extentions by the town in the past.Stillwater is now asking for a 90-day extension, until March 21, said Town Administrator Rick Aluise.SWD is also facing a Dec. 30 court hearing with the owners of the property, Valley Farms, Inc., where the subdivision is to be located on 36 acres south of the Colorado River.Valley Farms contends that SWD has defaulted on its agreement and wants the developers off the property and the agreement terminated.SWD wants the matter decided in arbitration by a third party. The Stillwater Ranch subdivision was approved by voters in a special election in 1997. The development is slated for 1,200 single- and multi-family homes, two 18-hole golf courses, a community center, swimming pool, hiking and equestrian trails and some commercial development.Despite the nearly eight years since the subdivision was approved and annexed into the town, developers have assured the town that the project is still happening.
