Stop judging Spanish speakers

Dear Editor,

A few weeks ago there were several letters from angry locals who said the Spanish community is rude and lazy and they only come here to live off our state.

If you would just take a moment and stop judging the Spanish community because of their language and skin color, you may notice that they are human just like we are and they work for the same reasons we work.

You will also notice that a Spanish person is always there to help us in time of need.

There are a lot of Spanish-speaking people who do make the effort to learn English. At least we could, too. Thanks to those who have!

Another thing, stop and ask yourself how many times have you given a panhandler money?

Being that I am a native of Glenwood, I can tell you a little about these so-called “poor homeless panhandlers.”

Did you know that every $3 they receive allows them to buy a 40-ounce bottle of beer. These people are not poor, they just want hand outs and beer, cigs. Instead of money, give them “real food.”

If you can give a “poor homeless panhandler” money for beer and cigs, then I am sure you can find it in your heart to help a Spanish person learn English or help them find a good job to help support their kids instead.

Come on, have a heart, they are human too!
