Stowe’s behavior leads to a vote for Houpt

Dear Editor,

What could possess Walt Stowe to engage in his recent pin-ball behavior with the Prehm Ranch/Westbank issue?

First he goes back on his ruling to deny Prehm’s request to build a road through Westbank. This decision was documented as the year’s worst political blunder by the Glenwood Springs Post Independent.

Then after his latest decision was fairly well finalized between all the parties, he flips again to reopen the issue for a possible bike trail.

Then once again, he flips backs to reject his own motion.

This erratic behavior has cost the citizens of Westbank and the citizens of Garfield County enormous time, money, and now a trail connecting Glenwood with Carbondale that rightfully belonged to the people.

Clearly, this is a man who doesn’t belong in public office. This is a man whose livelihood comes from the construction and development trades, and yet he sits on a public board to make decisions about what developers can and cannot do. His decisions appear to be based on the highest bidder who comes along at any given moment. They are not responsible decisions based on well documented research and what is in the best interest of the public.

This man is a liability in public office to the citizens of Garfield County and the Roaring Fork Valley. As a registered republican, my vote at this level will go to Tresi Houpt at the upcoming election for Garfield County Commissioner.
