Strawberry Days parade thanks

Dear Editor,I would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for supporting and participating in their local Strawberry Days parade. I would like to extend a great big thank you to all 80 entrants who participated this year. These last few weeks have been very difficult on the community, and I really appreciate everyone coming together to make this one of the biggest and best parades ever. The parade was a great success, and I would especially like to thank Vicki Lee Green for sponsoring the 101st Army Band, The Property Shop for sponsoring the Lawnchair Group and Starr Western for sponsoring the Grand Junction Centennial Band. Without these sponsors we wouldn’t be able to bring you such great musical entertainment.Hats off to the city Public Works Department and Police Chief Terry Wilson and his incredible force for doing such a wonderful job and with such patience and for making the parade happen. This year’s Grand Marshall float was Mason & Morse. This year’s winners in the commercial category were Glenwood Springs Post Independent, KGLN and Native American Crane. In the nonprofit category the winners were Valley View Hospital, High Country Four Wheelers and the Glenwood’s Hot Strings Band. In the service category the winners were Glenwood Springs Park and Rec., Cooper Corner and the White River National Forest Service. The Chamber would also like to thank the volunteers for all their help and support, Ron and Alison Limoges, Rick Tadus, Jeff Spink, Deric Walter, Hank, Erin Alfstad and judges Alexandra Yajko and her crew. We are looking forward to planning next year’s parade!Tracey Walter2002 Parade CoordinatorGSCRA Staff
