Summer of Jazz needs donations to finish season

Mary Noone

Dear Editor,

The Glenwood Springs Summer of Jazz needs everyone who loves and attends the weekly concert series to donate now!

How can I put it delicately? It seems that just about everyone in town is sucking some sort of financial wind. Business sales are off about 20 percent in the valley, and that’s just right about where we stand.

Although the Summer of Jazz enjoys the generous support of over 170 businesses and families, we desperately need your help. Large sponsor donations are down by $10,500, and although the concerts have been well attended, T-shirt sales and donations have been meager.

The bottom line is that we need $18,000 to finish the season. We could do a tedious raffle or charge admission to the two remaining concerts. We prefer the direct approach.

If you love to spend Wednesday evenings by the river with your family and neighbors listening to the very best in live, touring jazz (and this season has been exceptional!) and enjoy the essence of living in Glenwood Springs, drop us a check, buy a T-shirt or donate at the concert.

This is a community event. That means it’s up to you to keep the Summer of Jazz alive. Support it or lose it!

Sincerely,

Mary Noone
