Summer of Jazz to change format next year

The Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts announce today that a “Music in the Park” concert series will replace Summer of Jazz at Two Rivers Park next year.

Summer of Jazz is in its 25th year and will hold the final concert of the 2010 season tomorrow night.

In a news release, officials from the Center for the Arts said there will be six concerts in the 2011 season starting on June 29, 2011.

The concert series will have a variety of music, the news release said, including jazz , bluegrass, folk, reggae, country and more.

“Music in the mountains is practically synonymous with skiing in the mountains. Every community needs a gathering place to enjoy each other, applaud the talents of friends and neighbors, be entertained by talented musicians from across the country. Two Rivers Park on Wednesday evenings is just such a place. Bob and Mary Noone have given 25 years of tender loving care to the Summer of Jazz and even though it won’t be the same, we will give this new series of music in the mountains the tradition of excellence the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts has always provided,” said Gayle Mortell, Executive Director, Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts.
