Sunday power outage in south Glenwood due to blown electrical cabinet
A power outage in the South Glenwood Springs area Sunday afternoon was due to an electrical cabinet failure in the Park East subdivision, according to city officials.
The failure, which occurred around 3 p.m. Sunday, resulted in the loss of the main circuit in the Roaring Fork Substation.
Customers south of 22nd Street and Grand Avenue, and mostly east of the Roaring Fork River, were affected.
“Electric crews began restoring power to customers by 4:30 p.m. with the majority of customers being restored by 5:30 p.m.,” according to a statement from the city issued Monday morning.
The resulting cabinet replacement continued to affect approximately 10 customers until about 9:30 p.m., according to the statement.
