Staff ReportGlenwood Springs, CO Colorado

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. Well folks, it’s that sad time of year. You know, it’s spring and the weather is getting primed for summer. The snow melts, people place the skis and snowboards in the closet or garage until next season. This Sunday, April 8, will be the last day on the slopes at Sunlight Mountain Resort. It’s been a good season and there’s just one more weekend, a weekend full of Easter festivities, to last them through the rough summer months. On Sunday, a non-denominational Sunrise Service will start at 8:30 a.m., followed by an Easter-egg hunt for kids 12 and under starting at 10 a.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

The Sunrise Service will be held at the top of the mountain and delivered by Mike Ferguson. Lifts will start running at 7:30 a.m. to take people to the top but will shut down at 7:45. All people will be required to ski or snowboard back down the mountain. Lifts will start running again at the standard opening time.Easter eggs will be hidden all over the mountain for kids to search for on their way down the final run of the season. The eggs will be filled with candy and great prizes such as a child’s season pass to Sunlight for next season, two Rifle Recreation season passes and vouchers for cool Sunlight gear will be included.
