Sunlight Mountain weekend snow forecast

Saturday: High of 32 degrees, low of 22 degrees, no new snow expected.

Sunday: High of 33 degrees, low of 16 degrees, 20 percent chance of snow.



Sunlight has 100 percent of beginner and intermediate terrain open, and 90 percent of the advanced/expert terrain is open.

Friday, Jan. 8

Today is LaFarge Skier Appreciation Day at Sunlight Mountain Resort. $15 lift tickets will be offered and all proceeds will go to support the United Way of Garfield County.

Williams Production RMT is sponsoring a free ski and snowboard lesson for those who have never tried the sport. The beginner-only lesson for ages 7 and up will begin at 10 a.m.

Interested skiers and riders should arrive by 9 a.m. as the lessons are first-come, first-served.

Sunlight will also give a prize to the skier or snowboarder with the best Superhero costume. Costumes will be judged by applause at 3 p.m.

There will also be a drawing for a free pair of skis and a new snowboard, and tons of giveaways from Coors.

Local country music group the Whittingtons will play in the lodge starting at 2 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 10

Sunlight is hosting Teacher and Student Appreciation Day, offering $15 lift tickets to RFSD and Re-2 students. Teachers and staff will ski free.

Each student, school employee or teacher only has to show their school ID at the window to get the discount.
