Sunlight to open Friday

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Sunlight Mountain Resort will open Friday thanks to the recent storm.

The snowfall wasn’t as heavy as some other resorts, but will be enough to open the mountain. The Tercero lift and Primo lift will run servicing a limited amount of terrain.

The top of the mountain is reporting an 18 inch base and the base area has 12 inches of snow. Free lift tickets issued for Dec. 5, 6 or 7 that locals received as an incentive to see the Warren Miller Film or the Teton Gravity Research film Under the Influence be valid for the first three ski days of the season December 12, 13 or 14.

The Glenwood Springs Mall Opening Day Treasure Hunt will begin on Friday, Dec. 12. The first clue will be posted in the Post Independent, in Guest Services and on-line at

Lift-Ops for LIFT-UP, Sunlight’s annual food drive will take place, Dec. 12, 13 and 14 when locals are invited to bring a grocery bag of food in exchange for a $25 lift ticket discount.

Powderhorn season pass holders are invited to show their pass at our ticket window and receive one free lift ticket per pass good for Dec. 12, 13 or 14.
