Supporting families from preconception to college

Meet Your Merchant
Glenwood Springs, Colorado CO

Becoming a Parent supports families from preconception to college. I offer a series of classes tailored to expectant or new mothers. I also work with parents to create family plans tailored to support growth, understanding and mindfulness in discipline, sleeping, values, fertility, educational choices and eating habits.

Other services include: breastfeeding support, in-person or phone consultation, doula work (some free services are available for young mothers or low income mothers without assisting partners), and one-on-one coaching is available.

I offer a number of different services through my Becoming a Parent series of classes, workshops and one-on-one work.

What sets my approach apart from other parenting classes is my passion for supporting parents and children, the connections that mothers make with other mothers, and the connection and commitment that I personally maintain with clients.

In the spring of 2012 I offered pilot classes to expecting moms and health care workers in the valley. They have found the classes to be informative and helpful, and they encouraged me to offer classes to the general public.

I am offering a series of discussion-based classes tailored to the expecting or new parent. Mothers can meet other moms, get acquainted with the latest parenting research, get answers to questions about sleep, feeding, discipline, education, and health.

Supporting families and giving them strategies that enhance their quality of life is recessionproof. My services are low cost or free (for low income families or mothers who are birthing alone). Parents will always have questions and need familiar connections.

I don’t hire anyone; I facilitate all classes and discussion groups. I also offer new mothers a pool of materials and contacts. The action plans that I create with families include resources of professionals to support them achieve their goals.

I hope to one day have a storefront where families can come in and be supported – a meeting place with resources. For now I hope to support a larger number of families through group classes and one-on-one sessions, to assist with some births, and to offer more support classes and groups.

The Roaring Fork Valley is full of talented people, caring parents and thinking minds. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to grow personally through working with new families in this dynamic community.
