SUV interrupts zzz’s, crashes into house

AURORA, Colo. (AP) ” An Aurora family says it could have been a lot worse, but they still have quite a mess to clean up after a sport utility vehicle smashed into their home early Friday.

Homeowner Chris Giebler says everyone had been asleep until they got up to let the dog out. They were about to go back to bed when they heard a “kaboom” sound around 3:15 a.m.

Giebler says it sounded like an airplane had hit the house, but instead, it was a BMW SUV. The vehicle stopped just inches from the headboard in the master bedroom.

The driver, 24-year-old Jonathan Webb, was taken to a hospital for a possible broken ankle.

Giebler, his wife, his daughter and the daughter’s friend were not hurt, nor was the dog.

Police say alcohol and/or speed may have been factors in the crash.
