Swim Demons fare well in Thornton

The small Glenwood Springs’ boys swim team made a bit of noise at the 4A boys state swimming and diving meet, held Friday and Saturday at Veterans Memorial Aquatics Center in Thornton.

Max Bryant, who’s from Aspen but competes with the Demons, posted a pair of high individual finishes. He placed sixth in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 4 minutes, 52.39 seconds. In the 200 individual medley, he swam to seventh in 1:59.43.

Teammate Jack Cassidy, a student at Eagle Valley High School who swims with Glenwood, finished 13th in the 500 free, timing in at 4:58.91.

Cassidy added a ninth-place swim in the 200 free (1:48.59).

In the relays, Cassidy, Bryant, Sebastian Joly and Branden Currey teamed up to take 15th in the 200 medley (1:48.07) and Cassidy, Bryant, Currey and Jon Birzon placed 15th in the 200 free (1:37.06).
