Sy Omer Ouellette

Sy Omer Ouellette, 43, of New Castle, passed away Dec. 28, 2008.

He was born Feb. 7, 1965, in Laconia, N.H., to Omer A. Ouellette Jr. and Constance C. Jutrus. He obtained the ranking of an Eagle Scout.

He married Linda A. Glines on June 5, 1993, at “The Lot” in New Hampshire.

Sy was a forestry technician.

He was an area resident for 19 years and a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Glenwood Springs.

Sy’s love of life and all living things were only a start of his special gifts. His generous, kind, loving spirit was known by all he met. A love of nature, hunting, fishing, camping and so much more gave him peace. Sy gave freely, and his happiness truly came by making others happy. A friend to everyone, he loved his wife, family and dogs.

We will miss his free spirit and sense of humor. He was an amazing mentor of what living should be, staying true to his motto, “Keep smiling.”

Survivors include his wife; brother Ty (Tracy) Ouellette; sisters Bonita (Steve) Pike and Melissa (Kirk) Leintz; and 16 nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be made to Valley Emergency Petcare, 180 Fiou #101, Basalt, CO 81621.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Cliff McMillan will officiate.
