Terrie Lynn Samuelson

Post Independent
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

Terrie left us on Sunday at her home on Silt Mesa to start her next journey. We know it will be a good and adventurous one.

Terrie was born in Bloomington, Ill., and came to Colorado in the mid-70s, where she met her husband Paul. They both love the outdoors, so Terrie spent a lot of time camping, hiking, golfing and riding horses.

In later years, traveling and meeting new people, spending winters in Mexico and enjoying great friendships in Colorado when coming home.

One of Terrie’s greatest joys in life was horses. Not many people could sit a horse like Terrie and she rode with so much passion and love for these animals. Through the years, she taught many kids to ride and respect horses. Many of these kids are grown now and still call her their “other mom”.

A tribute to Terrie’s life was all the friends and extended family that rallied around her, not only in her fight with breast cancer, but in the life she tried to go on living. Cancer is limited. It cannot cripple love – shatter hope – corrode faith – destroy peace – kill friendships – suppress memories – silence courage – invade the soul – steal eternal life – conquer the spirit. Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Terrie’s life will be held at a later date. If you want to do something in tribute to Terrie’s life, give an animal in need a forever good home.
