Thank goodness for John Martin

Dear Editor,

Thank goodness Garfield County has at least one commissioner, John Martin, with enough backbone to say no to the pushy Prehm Ranch developers, Marlin Colorado Ltd., and their apparently illegal road through the Westbank subdivision. As for the other two commissioners, let’s hope medical science continues its progress in the area of spinal transplants.

Until then, though, the message to developers is clear: Welcome to Garfield County, boys! You don’t need no stinkin’ permits. Build whatever you like and those accommodating gents down at the courthouse can be bullied into approving it after the damage is done.

Those of us who respect the rule of law, and who expect our elected officials to enforce that law, should remember how the commission voted on this when the next election rolls around.
