Thanks to Carbondale from rec director

Dear Editor,

What has impressed me the most during my short tenure here in Carbondale has been the dedication and support of local residents and area businesses contributing manpower and materials to construct new or improve existing recreational facilities.

This was evident the past two weekends, with local business trades contributing, and more than two dozen citizens representing Carbondale Little League volunteering to build two new dugouts and a new infield on the North Face baseball field. Thanks to all of you who contributed. The dugouts and infield look beautiful!

Similar local community grassroots efforts have occurred to construct a new all-weather running track at Roaring Fork High School and a skate park at the North Face park site. And 11 local citizens have volunteered to serve on the Park Design Steering Committee as the town of Carbondale develops a park master plan for the 33-acre Delaney property.

To all Carbondale citizens, you have much to be proud of regarding your tenacious efforts to see improvements made to the recreational infrastructure of our community. While it takes time, and as you’ve shown community interest and effort, the Carbondale Parks and Recreation Commission and I look forward to working with you on planning and developing future parks and recreation facilities.
