The beginning of something wonderful?

Dear Editor,

Thank you to our community for the support you gave to the Roaring Fork Earthbeat Choir in helping to underwrite and sponsor Grammy winner singer/songwriter Steve Seskin to do a free concert Aug. 9 at Arbaney Park in Basalt and a songwriter workshop Aug. 10 at Steve’s Guitars in Carbondale.

Both events turned out to be a wonderful success. We had local singer/songwriters opening for Seskin, the likes of Frank Martin and Dan Sheridan, who competed in this year’s Troubadour contest for the Best Singer Songwriter in Colorado at the Folks Festival in Lyons. Frank placed fourth and Dan won first place. Congratulations to both of our local talented musicians.

Thank you to the people and organizations who supported us, for with your help this event was a big success.

This was the first major event that Earthbeat Choir has endeavored to bring to our valley. Thank you to my board of directors, Vickie Falcone, Mike Stranahan, Debbie Kendrick, Debra Murphy, Nancy Kimbrell and Ted Kauffman. Without their support this would have stayed a pipe dream. I hope this event is the beginning of something wonderful. Let’s continue to dream big.

K.C. Johnson,

Roaring Fork Earthbeat Choir
