The Glenwood Grinch

Dear Editor,

You knew this was coming. . Please take it in the jest intended!

Every Harley rider down in Glenwood liked rallies a lot,

But the Grinch who lived just north of Glenwood DID NOT!

The Grinch hated Harleys, and the whole Harley season.

Now please don’t ask why, cause we ALL know the reason.

It’s NOT because our heads aren’t screwed on just right,

It’s NOT because our tattoos are too bright,

It’s NOT because we’re young or old,

Or because safety is held in our manifold.

I think that the most likely reason of all

May be that his bike is two sizes too small.

For he sits there, his fingers “quietly” drumming,

On his keyboard, trying to keep this rally from coming.

“They’re filling their tanks!” he snarls with a sneer,

“The rally is coming, it’s practically here!

They’ll wake bright and early, those `Hog’ girls and boys,

They’ll rev up their engines and the NOISE! NOISE! NOISE! NOISE!”

Should we cancel our parades, and fireworks displays?

Or maybe even Strawberry Days?

The noise this imposes on those all around

Is certainly worth shutting down our entire town.

But whatever the reason, his patriotism or his views,

Our sense of our freedom we will not lose.

Resist the temptation to drive by his house,

Rev up your engine and antagonize the old louse,

Send some earplugs, offer a ride, or a flag to wave

From the land of the free

And the home of the brave.
