RIFLE – The Rifle Rotary Club has assembled a team of local sure-shots to battle the Harlem Ambassadors at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, in the Rifle High School gym.The Harlem Ambassadors is a traveling team of basketball showmen – and one star show-woman – who entertain audiences with moves that awe the young, and hijinks sure to tickle adult audiences, according to the organization’s Web site. The Rotary commissioned area businesses to contribute money to bring the Ambassadors to Rifle, so all profits from ticket sales benefit the Rotary’s adopted section of the planned Centennial Park in Rifle, said Rotary president Kris Daler.”The more challenging thing has been recruiting a team,” Daler said. The team consists primarily of well-known local athletes and coaches (see box). “It’s going to be a fun, family event,” Daler said.Tickets are available in advance at Wells Fargo, City Market and Bank of Colorado in Rifle. They cost $7 for adults, $5 for students (younger than 18), $10 for a parent with child, $20 for a family of four, and children 4 and younger get in free. Tickets are $2 more at the door.
