The Travel Channel just can’t get enough of the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, the area’s tourism hot spot. The Travel Channel is a cable channel that features different national and international vacation destinations. Each series has a different theme and features different locations.A crew from the Travel Channel filmed the Hot Springs Wednesday for the fourth time in three years for a series called “American Backroads – From Sea to Shining Sea.”Part of a 13-episode series, “American Backroads” will air around Easter of 2005.”It’s hard to tell how much these series affect tourism,” said Lori Hogan, director of tourism and marketing for the Glenwood Chamber Resort Association. “We do see a spike in central reservations when they’ve been on the air.”The Travel Channel first featured the Hot Springs in 2001 in a series called “America’s Hottest Places to Cool Off.” The series aired in 2002 and was followed by “Road Trip: Albuquerque to Aspen” in 2003 and “Top 10 Hottest Pools in 2003.”Although tracking results from Travel Channel is difficult, it’s great to have national advertising, Hogan said.”I think they keep coming back because we’re so receptive and willing to accommodate the crew,” Hogan said. “It’s great to have them here.”Contact Ivy Vogel: 945-8515, ext. 534ivogel@postindependent.com
