The U.S. is Mexico’s third largest financial institution
Dear Editor,
In response to a recent letter doubting Bob Anderson and his statement that the United States is the is the third largest source of income in Mexico, that is factual information. Besides Western Union and U.S. Banks, the Wall Street firms have also devised a way to sell securities tied to the dollars transferring south of the border. There is a substantial sum of American dollars (estimates placed it at $4 billion to $6 billion in 1996) transferred out of the country annually to Mexico. The United States is, unfortunately for American citizens, the third largest financial “institution” in Mexico, at a huge cost to our economy. Mr. Anderson is correct.
Sincerely,
Marty Lich
