CARBONDALE – Thunder River Theatre Company presents the funny and timely Neil Simon comedy, “The Prisoner of Second Avenue.”The local production is directed and designed by TRTC’s founding artistic director Lon Winston.Winston, who recently played Willy Loman in “Death of a Salesman” and co-directed it, was drawn to Simon’s “Prisoner” because of a review he came across of it when researching “Death of a Salesman.””The reviewer said ‘Prisoner’ was like a comedy version of ‘Salesman,'” he said. “I grabbed ‘Prisoner’ off my shelf and read it immediately. I was laughing out loud and thought, what a neat thing it would be to do these two plays back to back. I gave it to my associate artistic director Valerie Haugen to read. She loved it.”The play’s cast features Haugen and TRTC’s Michael Miller. Rounding out the cast is Richard Lyon, of TRTC, and Kristin Carlson, Cara Daniel and Cindy Hines. The play is scheduled for today, Sunday, June 29 and 30, and July 1, 6, and 7. Curtain is 7:30 p.m. for all performances, except Sunday twilight performances at 6 p.m.Tickets and information are available by calling 963-8200 or visiting
