Thomas David Munn
Thomas David Munn was born August 4, 1944 in Erie, Pennsylvania, and died March 8, 2011 in Snowmass, Colorado. He was Aspen’s Cowboy Poet, and a true cowboy who had worked on area ranches since the 1970s. He also had dear friends and ties to the Upstate New York region, particularly the Tug Hill Plateau.
He was an authentic individual who lived and died by his own rules, and in his own way. Everyone who knew him can attest to his honest and genuine character. He was well loved and will be missed by many, and it is a comfort that we have his words and music to remember him by. Tom was a friend to disabled veterans and was an Honorary Marine.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Milton Munn, his mother, Ruth Gross Munn and his dog Max. He is survived by his daughter, Narina Munn, son-in-law Robert Bomango and grandson Evan Bomango all of Santa Cruz, California; his sister Marion Munn of Cedaredge, CO and brother James Munn of Gloucester, MA.
He is also survived by his niece, Jennifer Wieben of Cedaredge, CO; nephew Jeffrey Fitsik of Washington D.C.; and nephews Janda Ricci-Munn, Corey Ricci-Munn and Kansas Ricci-Munn all of Gloucester, MA.
A gathering for his friends and family will be held 5:00 pm Thursday, March 17 at Two Rivers Cafe, 156 Midland Ave, Basalt, CO , where Tom and the boys met every morning for coffee.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tom’s name to the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic, 2121 North Avenue, Grand Junction, CO 81501, c/o Sandy Trombetta. It was an organization in which Tom was closely involved and dear to his heart.
