Thomas E. Russell, 76, also known as “Pappy,” passed away at Valley View Hospital on Aug. 15, 2004.Tom was born April 21, 1928, in Bath, N.Y., and moved to Rifle in 1998. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a charismatic man and left an impression on everyone he met. He loved farming, animals, singing, beer and people from all walks of life.Tom is survived by his children, Kathy Germano of Rifle, Clem Russell of New Jersey, Tammy Pearce of Glenwood Springs and Andy Russell, also of Glenwood Springs; brothers Bob, Joel, Frank and Shirley Russell, all of upstate New York; sisters Mary Houghtaling of upstate New York; Bonnie MacNaughton of Wellington; and Karleen House of Longmont. He had 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.He will be missed by many, but with his passing is at peace. Those wishing to honor his memory may do so by donating to a fund set up at Alpine Bank in Rifle for the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.A potluck wake to celebrate his life will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at Rifle Moose Lodge 1345.A potluck wake to celebrate his life will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at Rifle Moose Lodge 1345.
