Thomas Lawrence Green, Sr.

Please join us for a celebration of life in memory of Thomas Lawrence Green. Tom passed away peacefully Friday, July 29, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was the owner of the former Cobbler’s Bench in El Jebel, CO during the 1980s.

After the economy crashed, Tom moved his loving wife Jean, daughter, Tina, and son Tom, Jr. to Rifle and drove a Mixer Truck for Roaring Fork Redi Mix. He poured concrete throughout the valley and spent several years pouring concrete in Glenwood Canyon. He also worked for Casey Concrete, and for Don Lamson making bicycle shoes for bicyclists worldwide, including the U.S. Olympic Team.

During the 34 years Tom and Jean lived in the valley he made many friends and was always quick with a smile and a joke. Tom never met a stranger. His sense of humor brought laughter and joy to all he met. He was so proud that he and Jean had been married 39 years, and was so excited at the prospect of celebrating their 40th next April. His biggest pride was their four granddaughters: Lidia Ilowiecki, Julia Ilowiecki, Sha Deen Tsinnijinnie, and Jamie Green.

If you’d like to share a story about Tom we’d love to hear it. The celebration will be held Friday, Aug. 5, at 1 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Rifle. Complete obituary will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help with the costs incurred.
