Time almost ripe for Strawberry Days
If you haven’t noticed the brightly colored posters that have been sprouting up around town, or if you’ve had your head in the sand until recently, you might not know that the 109th Strawberry Days festival is a little over a week away.The festival will kick off a long smorgasbord weekend of fun in the sun on Thursday, June 15, and will last through Sunday afternoon, June 18.And this year will be better than ever, said Vicky Daulton, vice president of special events for the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association.”The hotels are packed,” said Daulton. “We’ll have thousands of people in from all over the valley.” Some hotels even began filling reservations as far back as March, she said. Daulton said that based on previous years’ attendance, she expects around 40,000 attendees spread out over the four-day event.Amusement Park tickets are on sale now for $15 at Safeway and Alpine Bank outlets. At the door, tickets will be $20.
