Time for debate on secondhand smoke

Ken Eielson

Dear Editor,

We have many things to be thankful for in our community, and No. 1 is our health, as everything we do is dependent on it.

This is being threatened and undermined by the continued proliferation of tobacco use in public access points, youth access to tobacco products, lack of adequate measures to monitor access and possibly a lack of energy to address this health issue.

Good people, it is time for the no-smoking issue to be brought to the public. It is time for the tobacco industry to know that it can no longer manipulate the members of this community.

It is most important that we, as believers in what is right, for our children’s futures and for those who suffer daily from nicotine addiction, smoking or using spit tobacco products or having to bear daily the curse of secondhand smoke, stand up and acknowledge this publicly.

Are you ready to address this issue and bring it to our community? Please state your intent pro or con so this debate may start.
