Time in office worthwhile

U.S. Rep. Scott McInnis, R-Grand Junction

With the 108th Congress now complete, the time has come to begin my journey home to Colorado.I have been honored to serve the people of my district, state and nation in the House of Representatives for over a decade. It is with great pride that I am able to claim that no member of Congress has been blessed with such a strong constituency, nor enjoyed such a loyal staff. Through times of hardship and prosperity, I always knew that I could count on your unwavering support and counsel. We have shared many successes over the years. Through our combined efforts, we preserved some of Colorado’s most scenic places, won approval for the most significant reform in forest management policy in half a century, and worked to protect our valuable western water supplies and maintain our multiple-use traditions. We made needed reforms in our tax code, and strengthened the Social Security and Medicare systems for future generations. Furthermore, we pushed for accountability in our education system, supported our brave troops and their families, protected our veterans, and worked to improve the quality of, and access to, health care in our nation. These are accomplishments that I will cherish for the rest of my life, but they pale in comparison to the honor of having served you.I will leave office a happy man, not regretting one day of my service, and thankful to have had the opportunity to give something back to my State and Nation. I am proud to have participated in the shaping of our Nation over the past 12 years, and with my mission now complete, I look forward to the journey home.Lori and I, along with our children Dax, Tessa and Andrea, thank you for the privilege you have allowed in my representation. I will always be your Congressman at heart.U.S. Rep. Scott McInnis, R-Grand Junction, is retiring after six terms in office.U.S. Rep.
