Top 10 sports stories, No. 5: Roaring Fork volleyball in playoffs

The “Dream Team” – a group of seniors that led Roaring Fork High School’s volleyball team to the state tournament in 2010 – had long since graduated, but that didn’t deter the 2012 Rams.

A talented Roaring Fork squad with just a handful of holdovers from the 2010 squad returned to the Denver Coliseum for the state tournament in November.

In Denver, the Rams won a match and earned a chance to reach the semifinals via a three-way tiebreaker with pool mates Eaton and Platte Valley.

Although the Rams did not reach the round of four, they did wrap a memorable campaign. When all was said and done, Carrie Shultz-coached Roaring Fork owned a 23-5 overall record.
