Taylor Creek Fly Shop guide Kirk Webb hooked a freakishly large brown trout on the Fryingpan River in December, reeling in a prize catch estimated to weigh just between 21 and 23 pounds. It is perhaps the largest brown trout ever caught on the Fryingpan.
Webb’s fateful catch, which garnered its fair share of media attention, came at a portion of the river known as the “Toilet Bowl.” The fish’s girth came in at 24 inches plus. Its length: more than 29 inches.
