Glenwood Springs – The sound of gunshots pierced the night air on June 25 in West Glenwood Springs.Witnesses thought it might be fireworks, but it wasn’t.
One man was dead, and one suspect was gone.A day later, 33-year-old Jesus Hernandez de Jesus was arrested in Mesa County.The case went through the justice system rather quickly, with a guilty plea coming less than six months later.On Dec. 10, Hernandez de Jesus pleaded guilty to shooting to death his 20-year-old nephew Ricardo Navarrete Prudencio. Hernandez de Jesus accepted a second-degree murder plea deal. He will be sentenced in April 2008.
