Town meeting tonight in Silt

An informal town meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Silt FIre station off Main Street on Friday, Oct. 20, with Third Congressional District candidate, Republican Scott Tipton, as well as other local Garfield County candidates.

This will be a relaxed atmosphere and they’ll take audience questions,” said Silt Mayor Dave Moore, who organized the meeting. “It will be light-hearted, but we’ll talk about severance tax, reclamation and (oil and gas) industry questions.”

Congressman John Salazar will not be in attendance and the meeting will not be a debate, but it will not be a Tipton rally either, Moore said.

“This is a town meeting,” Moore said. “We’re getting away from the debate and things that people have already heard.”
