Train wreck death a suicide

The death of the man whose car was struck by an Amtrak train between Silt and New Castle has been ruled a suicide, according to Garfield County Coroner Trey Holt.Holt said that witness reports led to the ruling, but said he could not comment on the nature of the reports.The State Patrol believes Eric Schwaab, 33, of New Castle died instantly when an eastbound Amtrak passenger train struck his Subaru station wagon at about 4:53 p.m. on July 13. The car was struck at the Rippy Road crossing in front of Sunshine Farm along U.S. Highway 6 & 24.
