Trump kids, families to visit Aspen this weekend

A large contingent of President Donald Trump’s children and grandchildren are scheduled to vacation in Aspen this weekend, sources said Thursday.
U.S. Secret Service agents met recently with members of the Aspen Police Department, though they did not ask for assistance with the Trumps, according to an area law enforcement source who requested anonymity.
The Trump family is expected to arrive in Aspen late Saturday or early Sunday, along with about 100 Secret Service agents, a source said.
“It’s a big gathering,” the source said.
Another Aspen area law enforcement source said the Trump visitors to Aspen will include Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump and their families. That source, however, said the number of agents in town will likely be quite a bit less than 100.
Neither source know where the Trumps will stay or how long they will be in town.
A message left Thursday at the Denver field office of the U.S. Secret Service was not returned.
Aspen Police Chief Richard Pryor confirmed his agency has been in contact with the Secret Service. He declined to comment on who is visiting and referred further questions to the Secret Service.
Pitkin County Sheriff Joe DiSalvo said he’d heard rumors of a weekend visit by Trump family members, but had not been asked to assist Secret Service agents this weekend. He said he heard Secret Service members will be in town this weekend but had not heard for certain who’s visiting.
However, DiSalvo also said he would think twice about using county resources to help protect anyone in the Trump family except the president and first lady.
“If it’s anyone but him or her, I’m not sure we’d use public money for it,” said DiSalvo, who has previously balked at using public resources to protect dignitaries who come to town for non-public events.
Pitkin County Commissioner George Newman said he heard Secret Service agents were in town about two weeks ago meeting with members of the Aspen Mountain Ski Patrol about a visit by Trump’s extended family or kids.
Aspen Skiing Co. spokesman Jeff Hanle said Thursday he hadn’t heard about the visit if it occurred.
