Tuesday’s prep basketball games cancelled due to Glenwood Canyon rockslide

Tuesday night was supposed to see Coal Ridge travel to Eagle Valley, and the Rifle Bears head up to Summit for some high school basketball action.

However, due to the rockslide in Glenwood Canyon that has westbound lanes closed for an unknown amount of time and intermittent eastbound closures, both local programs saw their games cancelled.

The Titans were scheduled to battle with the Devils in non-league action in Gypsum, as the two teams come down the stretch in regular-season play. According to Coal Ridge boys basketball head coach Paul Harvey, the Titans hope to reschedule the non-league matchup for late next week.

Rifle was scheduled to head up to Summit County for a battle with the Summit Tigers in 4A Western Slope League action. Much like the Titans-Devils matchup, Rifle’s battle with Summit is expected to be rescheduled for a date next week.

While basketball is cancelled for the night, Rifle wrestling will travel to Meeker Tuesday night for a dual with the Cowboys.
